The Pool is OPEN!

Barrington Municipal Pool open to the public today, Monday, June 29!  Swimming lessons begin today as well as the public swims.

 

For Monday, June 29, public swims will be from 4 pm to 5 pm for youth and teens. There will be no public swim in the evening, due to the graduation being held at the Barrington Municipal Arena.

 

On Tuesday, June 30, public swims will be from 4 pm to 5pm for youth and teen; 6 pm to 8 pm for families; from 8 pm to 9 pm for adults.

 

On Wednesday, July 1, the pool will not be opened due to Canada Day.

 

On Thursday, July 2, public swim will be from 2 pm to 3:30 pm for youth and teens; 3:30 pm to 5 pm & 6 pm to 8 pm for families and 8 pm to 9 pm for adults.

 

On Friday, July 3, senior swims will be from 8:30 am to 9:30 am; public swim will be from 2 pm to 3:30 pm for youth and teens; 3:30 pm to 5 pm & 6 pm to 8 pm for families.

 

The pool is not open to the public on Saturdays.

Lobster Fest 1km Tinker Run and 5 km &10 km Run/Walk

The Barrington Municipal Recreation Dept. is encouraging everyone to take part in the 2015 1 k Tinker, 5 k & 10 K Fun Run / Walk!

REGISTRATION for the runners:

$5.00 (13 yrs. & older)

Free (5 – 12 yrs. old)

REGISTRATION for walkers: free!

Walkers must sign the waiver. If more than one person is walking from one family, all names should be written in on the registration form.

Registrations for all distances, will be accepted at the Barrington Recreation Dept., by email, mail, fax or in person. Registrations will be accepted until the start time of the events, Sat. June 6.

START TIMES:

1 K Tinker – 10 :00 am start

(3 times inside the Sherose Island ball field )

5 K and 10 K – 11:00 am start

 

RACE ROUTE: The run / walk will begin and end in front of the Sherose Island Rec. Centre. Runners / walkers will follow the Sherose Island Road to the stop sign at Highway # 3 and turn left. Continue on Highway # 3.

5K participants run until you see a pylon or person, indicating the 2.5 k mark. Turn around and make your way back to the       Recreation Centre.

10 k participants run through Barrington Passage, on the Causeway, and turn up North East Point Road until you see a pylon or person, indicating the 5 k mark. Turn around and make your way back to the Recreation     Centre.

There will be water stations along the route.

Washrooms are available at the Recreation Centre.

AWARDS: 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place runners will be awarded in all categories.

Kayaking and Lumberjack Camp

All kayaks, PFDs, and gear are provided.

The camp is for ages 10 – 14, participants must be able to swim and be comfortable in the water. PFDs will be worn at all times while on the water.

Participants will learn basic kayaking and canoeing skills, as well as tree climbing, logrolling, and bow sawing. The will also learn about fish and plant identification. .

The camp starts at 9am and finishes at 3pm from Monday to Thursday. On Friday the camp will start at 9am and end at 1pm – Parents/guardians and family members are invited to come at 12pm to see a demonstration of what the participants have learned.

August 10-14th

Cost: $75.00 per person.
