2014 Volunteer Week
April 6 – 13
Volunteer Week will be celebrated throughout Nova Scotia during the week of April 6 – 13. The primary purpose of this special designed week is to thank and honour people who donate their time to help fellow citizens and support the causes in which they believe. Volunteer Week also serves to reinforce the human values in which that volunteering represents and increases awareness of the importance of volunteerism to our communities.
The Barrington Municipal Recreation Department is encouraging you to nominate one individual from your community group, who you believe is deserving of being recognized. You can print the nomination form: Volunteer Week Nomination Form
When filling out the nomination form, please list past and present volunteer work that your nominee has done. Please be as thorough as you can, as the information you provide will be read at our local Volunteer Recognition Ceremony and Banquet.
To ensure your nominee will be considered for the Provincial Volunteer Representative, please return your nomination form to the Recreation Department by Friday, February 14. The Municipal Council will select one individual from all nominees received. This volunteer will be invited to attend the Provincial Volunteer Award Ceremony and Banquet in Halifax, on April 7.
Any nominations received after February 14, will still be included for invitation and recognition at the Municipal Volunteer Recognition Ceremony and Banquet. All nominees will be notified by the Recreation Department about the local ceremony and banquet.
