March Break Day Camp
The Barrington Municipal Recreation Department will be offering the March Break Day Camp program, for children aged 5 (must be in school) to 12, March 10 to March 14.
The program will run from 8 am to 5 pm.
$15 per day / child or $60 per week / child.
Outdoor and indoor play, crafts, movies. Daily free skates. May borrow helmets from the arena.
Participants must bring snacks, lunch, indoor sneakers, warm winter clothes, mittens, boots and extra socks.

Youth Basketball
The basketball program is for children aged 8 to 12 and it will be held at BMHS gym. The cost of the program is $30.00, which include a t – shirt. The program will end with a fun tournament and a lunch!
REGISTRATION & THE FIRST SESSION (week 1) will be Saturday, January 18 at the BMHS gym, 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm. Registration form available then. P.S. Don’t forget the Health Card Number! If you are not able to make it for the first session, you will be able to register on the following session.
Due to the BMHS senior and junior basketball teams schedules, we may not be able to have the program on Saturday afternoons. At the end of each session, the date for the next session will be announced. The program will be held until the March Break.
All participants will be grouped into teams after several sessions. This program is meant to be fun and exciting. It will help develop fundamental basketball skills and emphasis is on team work and fair play.
- Please wear proper footwear and clothing during the basketball program, you must carry in your footwear into the gym
- Please be on time
- Please be a good sport and respect your instructors / supervisors / coaches

- You are encouraged to bring you own refreshments to have during the program

Learn to Curl
The Barrington Regional Curling Club with funding from Nova Scotia’s Thrive! strategy will be offering a Learn to Curl program for children, youth, and families for free! This is a great chance to learn the sport of curling.
The program will begin Saturday January 18th and will be held every Saturday morning from 10am to 12 noon, unless there is a curling spiel.
Participants are encouraged to wear warm clothing. Participants MUST being a clean pair of sneakers/ boots to go on the ice. Children 12 years old and younger MUST wear a helmet. Helmets can be borrowed from the arena. Children 9 years old and younger MUST be supervised by an adult while on and off the ice. Curling brooms will be provided. Water and juice will also be provided.

Ballet
Winter Term: January 2014 – May 27, 2014
All classes are on Tuesdays.
4:15pm – 4:45pm Baby Ballet, Ages 2.5-4
5:00pm – 6:00pm Elementary Ballet, Ages 5-8
6:00pm – 6:30pm Baby Ballet Ballet, Ages 2.5 – 4
Class information:
- 10 students per class.
- Students must bring water to drink.
- Long hair must be in a bun.
- No experience necessary for any of the classes.
Attire
- Females: Leotards, tights, and ballet slippers
- Males: Shorts, tshirt, and black ballet slippers
Please note that we will have ballet slippers available for purchase at the class, you may wear socks until you get a pair of slippers.
Cost:
$5 per class: $105 for the full term – this can be paid in installments of $20 per month or as a lump sum.
$5.00 off for a second child in immediate family registered for any class.
Financial assistance is available through the Kids Fair Play Fund, contact the Recreation Department for more information.
Kung Fu
Kung Fu classes are underway at the rec centre on Sherose Island on Thursdays from 6:00pm to 7:30pm
The classes are open to anyone ages 7 and up, there is no limit!
Classes start with stretching then move into Kung Fu forms.
Cost:
$35/month (2 classes per week)
$18/month (1 class per week)
$5 for drop ins
You are always welcome to join the class, first timers for this class are asked to fill out a form to be kept on file by the recreation department. Fees can be paid at the class or at the recreation department during business hours.

Snowshoeing
On Saturday February 8th at 1:30pm meet at the Sherose Island Recreation Centre for a guided snowshoeing hike. Equipment will be provided.—If there is no snow then we will hike instead.
Snowman Contest
By February 15th build a snowman and send in a picture of it along with the names and ages of the people who built it to barringtonmpal@eastlink.ca the photos will be placed on the facebook page and website to be voted on.
Snowshoe Rental
